Elder Gerrit W. Gong of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles spoke to Church employees about guiding principles for the use of artificial intelligence (AI) in support of the gospel. He said AI should support but not replace spiritual connection with God. The Church will provide transparency about when people interact with AI and ensure accuracy and truthfulness. Elder Gong and Elder Pingree outlined seven principles approved by Church leaders regarding AI's spiritual, ethical, privacy and accountability guidelines. Elder Gong encouraged relying on the Spirit when using AI to avoid deception.
