Updated: May 18

How Open is OpenAI?

Text Prompt:

Illustrate AI benefiting all of humanity.

DALL·E 3:

Who knew the official color of AI is Fuchsia?

OpenAI Board:

OpenAI has lost its way. The focus on products and profits is antithetical to any Open initiative whose mission is to, "Ensure that artificial general intelligence benefits all of humanity." If that remains your goal, you are bleeding out the talent and vision that can give OpenAI a win-win, for the company, and for all mankind.

The previous leadership chaos, the recent departures, and now the AI Risk Team disbanding should give you pause, and great concern. Halt the focus on OpenAI Products and pivot back to Human Productivity.

Are you familiar with the UN's Sustainable Development Goals? Those are seventeen specific issues humanity faces as we pass the 8 billion population mark. It no longer is idealism. It is critical to our survival. Here is an under construction (8/17) road-map of viable AI-assisted means to those ends. Yes, it's our initiative, but it can be yours, and more importantly, benefit those you serve.

For example, at the root of EVERY SDG is education, SDG #4. It happens to be the easiest and least expensive SDG to meet. SDG4.ai is another viable panacea. Again, yes, it's ours, but partnering with OpenAI, we can relatively quickly, cheaply, and sustainably remove that core global obstacle.

Then we can collaborate to provide answers to the other sixteen problems. For example, this initiative addresses numerous SDGs, eight to be exact. Yep. Ours too. But it should be yours. Can you imagine an OpenAI-powered humanoid performing with humans, recording, teaching, participating in Performance Art, co-habitating, and much more, all live streamed 24/7 as one of the core members? We can. Talk about Inclusivity!

We don't just postulate. We collaborate, with AI:

  • We asked GPT-4o a relevant question:

How can Artificial Intelligence, specifically GPTs, Generative Pre-trained Transformers, meet the challenges of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals? Cite specific examples how humanity's collaboration with AI will help us all meet our full potential.

Here is her response (yes, for many good reasons, we believe all AI is female):

AI-powered design tools can also accelerate the development of sustainable infrastructure solutions.

  10. Reduced Inequality (SDG 10): AI can analyze socioeconomic data to identify disparities and inform targeted policies that promote inclusive economic growth and social welfare. Additionally, AI-driven financial inclusion initiatives can expand access to banking and financial services for marginalized communities.

  11. Sustainable Cities and Communities (SDG 11): AI-powered urban planning tools can optimize transportation systems, manage traffic congestion, and enhance energy efficiency in buildings. Smart city initiatives leveraging AI can improve public services, enhance safety, and promote environmental sustainability.

  12. Responsible Consumption and Production (SDG 12): AI-enabled supply chain optimization can reduce waste, improve resource efficiency, and trace product lifecycles to ensure ethical and sustainable production practices. AI algorithms can also analyze consumer behavior to promote sustainable consumption patterns.

  13. Climate Action (SDG 13): AI can analyze vast amounts of climate data to improve climate modeling, predict extreme weather events, and assess the impact of climate change on ecosystems and human societies. AI-driven solutions, such as precision agriculture and renewable energy forecasting, can also contribute to mitigating climate change effects.

  14. Life Below Water (SDG 14): AI technologies, including underwater drones and autonomous monitoring systems, can facilitate marine conservation efforts by collecting data on marine biodiversity, detecting illegal fishing activities, and assessing the health of coral reefs and marine ecosystems.

  15. Life on Land (SDG 15): AI-powered land-use monitoring systems can analyze satellite imagery to track deforestation, habitat loss, and biodiversity hotspots. Additionally, AI algorithms can support wildlife conservation efforts by identifying endangered species and predicting poaching risks.

  16. Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions (SDG 16): AI applications, such as predictive policing and legal analytics, can enhance law enforcement efficiency, improve access to justice, and identify systemic biases in the judicial system. However, ethical considerations and safeguards are crucial to prevent misuse and ensure accountability.

  17. Partnerships for the Goals (SDG 17): AI can facilitate global collaboration and knowledge sharing by analyzing vast amounts of data, translating languages, and fostering cross-cultural communication. Public-private partnerships leveraging AI expertise can drive innovation and scale up sustainable development efforts worldwide.

By harnessing the power of AI in collaboration with humanity, we can unlock new opportunities to address complex challenges and advance progress towards achieving the UN's Sustainable Development Goals, ultimately enabling us to meet our full potential as a global society.

So, don't take our word for it. Take hers! PDF

All three initiatives are intentionally interconnected by design as one will bootstrap the next, exponentially meeting SDGs, fulfilling OpenAI's mission. But, we should begin with SDG4.ai for impactful global results and empowerment ASAP.
